Ryan Marchand, Drama and Vocal Instructor

Ryan studied musical theatre under Barbara Damashek at San Francisco State University (SFSU) and performed in and served as fight choreographer in several of SFSU's plays. Ryan is a company member of the experimental Theatre of Yugen, whose work is founded in the traditional Japanese theatrical forms Noh and Kyogen. He has performed in their production of "Candide" and participated in their production of Dogsbody, which premiered at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. He has also choreographed fight scenes for "Zombie, The Musical" produced by Stage Werx. He first began working with children at Ryo Dojo, where he studied Hawaiian Kenpo karate under Bill Ryusaki for over nine years. He frequently works as a fight choreographer as well as theater instructor and assistant director in community children's musical theater programs. Ryan graduated from SFSU with a degree in French and a minor in theatre.
